Technologies/Tools

Airtable, a company and tool used by Campaign Zero, is a service that brings a spreadsheet feel to a larger database. In this project, they used Airtable to build a table similar to a spreadsheet, involving things such as the identity, images, dates/locations, cause of death, police departments involved, news article links, and so much more in order to pay tribute and educate about every victim lost.

This extensive/specific information, links, and images within the table align with documentation and data, popular practices among digital humanities projects. The news reports and identity tell the story of each victim, opening the eyes of viewers to cases that may not have been popularized. News reports supplied reinforcement to the data, unveiling the sources for the data and where the rest of the world is finding out about police violence as well.

Airtable can be efficiently used in other DH projects to execute the primary goals of DH, such as the source, documentation, and visualization of data.
