The Digital Ghost Hunt is a Digital Humanities project that successful meets it goals. The creators of this project showcase a strong amount of transparency and openness, and due to those values, the project’s individual goals of both providing a children a fun and entertaining experience, along with providing the foundations for coding education, were able to be accomplished.
By documenting the components of the SEEK Ghost Detector, along with outlining the plot and structure of how they created an interactive narrative, the creators of the DGH made it possible for others to not only understand how they accomplished what they did, it also gave people a guide for people in the future to create new experiences for children that have similar goals. Education is constantly evolving, and through its transparency, the DGH becomes an educational tool in and of itself for anybody who wants to get children interested in coding.
In regards to its success as an engaging experience for children, its methodology of interactivity through a mix of both stage entertainment and puzzle solving, the DGH clearly creates an age appropriate experience. The venues and story were all figured out well in advance, and entire environments were created physically and digitally for children to explore.
