Research Values

Critical Analysis of Power and Society – Torn Apart investigates social, political, and economic structures behind immigration and detention, aligning with DH’s commitment to using digital tools to explore human and societal issues.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration – The team includes scholars, coders, librarians, and designers, showing DH’s focus on combining different types of expertise to produce richer, more multifaceted research.

Empathy– Our project shows empathy by helping people understand how families feel when ICE breaks them up. We share their stories online so that other people can see and feel their pain. This has to do with Digital Humanities because DH uses technology to tell stories about people and get people interested in real problems. Our project helps people learn about and connect with these families by using pictures. One of DH’s main goals is to teach kindness and understanding through digital tools.
