Criminal Justice:

Criminal justice is the intersection of law enforcement, the judiciary/courts, and corrections, which serve as the agencies that investigate, incriminate, and provide punishments for illegal violations. Criminal justice is the basis of this project, as it plays a role in crime tracking, police brutality, and the digital mapping said topics. Without criminal justice, these processes would look different and, in most cases, not exist. Criminal justice studies how crimes are committed, and how they are caught and punished.
Digital Humanities:

Digital humanities is the study of the humanities using computational/digital tools and methods to research and understand culture. Digital mapping is one of many examples of this field, especially when considering how present digital tools are in the project. Most strategies used in the tracking and mapping of criminal activity are have at least one component of methods used in the digital humanities. Digital humanities is studied through building digital projects.
