Selfiexploratory

The Selfiecity project uses many technologies and tools for their data. More specifically the Selfiecity team created a web app named the Selfiexploratory to showcase their data found within all of the selfies taken and to show every detail that was analyzed. This tool allowed Manovich and his team to not only separate and analyze their data, but to then to give the receiver a visual aid to analyze the selfies themselves.

The Selfiexploratory is a gallery of all the selfies used in this project. There is also different attributes of the photos you can see yourself by clicking on the graphs above. You can see who and what selfies are the most happy, and what city they are from. You can see how their head is turn, age, emotion, facial features, tilt of their head, and direction of their head, and you can click any city analyzed by the team. The more specific attributes you pick the less selfies will be shown, rather than if you picked a city. The Selfiexploratory also allows you to stack the filters so you can get really specific. For example, you can see if there is a young girl tilting her head to the left, or just a guy smiling. This tool allows the Selfiecity team and us as receivers to see the diversity in all the selfies and get as specific as we would like. How the made and created the Selfiexploratory is not documented.
Link To Digital Humanities Practices
This tool used relates to the DH practice of purpose and audience. This tool has a purpose to show the audience every attribute that went in to analyze all of these selfies. This tool also allows the audience to interact with the data so we can analyze and see all these selfies through our own eyes. Their Selfiexploratory is documented in this project.
