Context

The “Land Acquisition and Dispossession” project uses old land records, maps, and data to tell a clearer story about U.S. history. It shows how land was taken, claimed, and changed over time.
Purpose:
By reviewing this project, we show how digital tools can make history easier to understand and more fair by including voices and stories that are often left out.
Team: Caleb Strawhecker, Matt Knight
Matt: Methods, Research Values, Technology, Articles, Cultural Impact, and team
Caleb: Project Page, Goals, Data, Context, Results, and Evaluation.
Our goal is to study and explain how the project works. Explain what it shows, what tools and data it uses, and how well it represents digital humanities values.
