Introduction

I’m Sam Bugbee, a junior at West Chester University majoring in marketing and media and culture. This website was created to be used for the Intro to Digital Humanities course, DHM 280, during the 2025 fall semester. My task is to evaluate the connection/compatibility between work in Digital Humanities and work in another academic field/discipline.

My mission is to analyze the relationship between work in digital humanities and marketing. In a college course developed with project-based learning in mind, critical thinking is at the helm. This approach allows me to discover how digital tools and cultural analysis can inform marketing strategies and their impact on modern industries.

I chose a digital project from J Walter Thompson’s Advertising America to demonstrate the link between these two disciplines. This website has countless archives of old marketing/advertising campaigns from major companies and is where I conducted most of my research.

Duke University libraries gives the public access to these advertising archives so others can look back and better understand the history of various campaigns and how they can be used to enhance today’s promotions.
