Anticipated Project Results

If this project were completed, it would provide a transparent, interactive visualization of nighttime lighting across West Chester University’s campus, clearly identifying areas with insufficient lighting and highlighting the locations of emergency call stations. This digital tool would serve as a centralized resource for campus safety planning, helping facilities and Public Safety make informed decisions about lighting upgrades and safety infrastructure.

For students, the project would improve nighttime navigation and increase their sense of safety when moving across campus after dark. For university administrators, it would offer visual, data-driven evidence to guide long-term safety improvements and resource distribution.
