Image result for OMEKA

WordPress for general site management due to its ease of management and lightweight nature.

Omeka is a web-based database software. Launched in February 2008, Omeka has established itself as a leading open source web publishing platform for digital collections.

Comictagger, an open-source metadata app specifically for comics, will be used to tag any comic pages on the site with searchable metadata. Comictagger uses the Comic Vine API for its metadata.

Cameras and scanners are used to collect images for entries in the database

Methodology

The WCU Comics in the Special Collections Project seeks to use web design that is simple and user-friendly in order to provide a database that students of all levels of computer literacy can search in order to find comics that might interest them.

We do this through a combination of the use of simple web building techniques and an abundance of things to search for on the provided database. Alongside this, we will be using Comictagger to create industry-standard metadata to allow people to discover comics in the database with ease.

Omeka’s tools will be used to organize and add discreet metadata for each issue to be searched through better.

Additional tools and processes may be used, but they are not known yet, as this project is in its infancy. The poor level of description on the collection currently also hampers us in the identification on what we may need to use.
