Evaluation of Project

In the field of digital humanities projects, there are several best practices that should be adhered to. Some of these include, but are not limited to a planning document, research question, purpose, goal, data, documentation, and collaborators.

The Rose Hall project does a great job overall of following best practices. Despite not having a planning document, the project explicitly shares its research, goals, data, documentation and collaborators. The project opens with a pop-up sharing the purpose of the project, which is to “respectfully and lovingly remember and hold space for the enslaved Africans and their enslaved African-born and Caribbean-born descendants who lived and labored at Rose Hall Plantation in Jamaica.”

The project shares its data and collaborators clearly with the audience and doesn’t hide anything in terms of research. I found this project engaging and a pleasure to look and read through because of its adherence to best practices.
