The Cities and Memory project produces many results that connect its goals of cultural documentation, creative expression, and global collaboration to its audience.
Result 1: Increased cultural awareness & engagement
The project allows users to experience different places through sound, helping them better understand cultures, environments, and everyday life around the world. For listeners, researchers, and students, this creates a more immersive and meaningful way to engage with cultural data, aligning with the project’s goal of documenting real-world environments and making them accessible with an audience of General listeners, students, educators, and researchers interested in culture, geography, and digital humanities.
Result 2: Creation of a collaborative global sound archive
The project results in a continuously growing digital archive of both original and remixed recordings contributed by people around the world. For contributors, artists, sound creators, and global creative communities, this provides a platform to share their work and perspectives, supporting the project’s goal of building a global community and encouraging creative reinterpretation of sound.
