The value for this project is to be seen as a memorial, give respect and remember the enslaved people that were brought to the Rose Hall Plantation as well as the descendants of the enslaved people that brought to the plantation as well. The projects also give information on the enslaved people that were forgotten or not mentioned, and to give a voice to the institution of slavery today.
The value for the project aligns with DH Value Transparency because they reveal and share the data sources and method that they used. Their sources were the documents that they collected from 1817-1832 and how they used the Celia E. Naylor’s 2022 book, (Un)Silencing Slavery: Telling Truths about Rose Hall Plantation, Jamaica that is a companion piece to the website.
