Through the Project Becoming Richard Pryor, research is transformed into an interactive digital narrative through digital mapping and storytelling.
Scott Saul, the author, collected and organized historical data in the form of photos, maps, and census data in Peoria, Illinois, Richard’s childhood town, though we do not know from where this data was sourced from due to Saul’s lack of documentation.
Through digital mapping, he was able to digitally visualize for the audience how geography and segregation shaped Pryor’s world growing up. He did this through integrating data and narrative together to create an engaging user experience
