Goals

The main goal that Miljanovic has when creating this project is to create a framework for how to implement machine learning into serious games to make them adaptive to the player. Once he’s done that, he wants to share the framework model in the form of GidgetML in order to allow other people to modify their own games. As a result, whether it be a serious game or an actual video game, it can build a new engaging, and personalized experience for the player.

As already discussed, Miljanovic was successful with this goal and published the source files of GidgetML onto GitHub for anyone to access.

Although it isn’t necessarily cultural data one would think of, like covered in the disciplines section, programming is a form of culture. Thus, this aligns with the Digital Humanities goal to publish, provide access to, and share data. In Miljanovic’s case the data he is sharing is the source files for GidgetML as a foundation that anyone can access or build upon. Which connects to Digital Humanities’ drive to provide shared infrastructure, where one group’s development creates resources for the community to use and push further developments.
