One of the tools that SSD uses is Tor. Tor is a free, open-source software used for anonymous communication. It makes it more difficult to be tracked online and is run by millions of volunteers around the world. This helps to prevent anyone from being able to see where your message is being sent from or where it is intended to go. Tor is used to help prevent your private data and location from being tracked.
By providing a guide on how to use Tor, SSD is being transparent about information and tools available online that are less known. This connects back to digital humanities, as transparency is one of their values.
SSD’s documentation of their tools is great. The project provided an entire page dedicated to Tor, what it is, and how to use it.
