Values

The artwork of the Malian pictures are all about restoring the negatives to their original beauty, but it also relates to our digital humanities goal of diversity. The different groups and background of each of these individuals in all six photographers’ work is amazing to witness. Restoring the former beauty of an art piece is amazing but these images could have been lost or forgotten. They have been taken from photographic negatives and brought into the light our online posting and websites. These digital humanities tools allow for our world to see the faces of thousands that have lived in Mali, and a glimpse into their life. Diversity as a digital humanities value is about the variety and quality of including people from a range of different groups. These people are from the same ethnic group but different social backgrounds and or groups. Each photo is a name and description of the pictures captured. Their genders or sexual orientations are told, but photos give viewers the ability to understand how people represent themselves. Diversity is a key detail in the purpose of the photography taken of these Mali residents.
