Welcome to Emily and Jessie’s Digital Humanities project! This project focuses on the archives of Malian photography, Art History as a discipline, and how the archives relate to Digital Humanities.
Art History is an important part of culture and our world, it even relates back to archives of Malian photography that are preserved and digitized collections of six important photographers. The team of US and Malian conservators have been cleaning, scanning, cataloging, and rehousing over one hundred thousand photos. The photographers talked about in this research are Mamadou Cissé, Félix Diallo, Adama Kouyaté, Abdourahmane Sakaly, Malick Sidibé, and Tijani Sitou. This collection spans from the 1940s-90s and reveals changes and continuities in political, cultural, social trends and photographic production.
