Overview & Significance
Overview

Eaglecaching is a project by AU Scholar students at American University, in Washington D.C., as a part of a class project during their Spring 2015 semester. Its purpose is to connect individuals with the school, by having them explore the campus and learn about its history through the activity of “geocaching”. Geocaching is an outdoors activity that has players utilizing a GPS to find little caches at given coordinate points. After finding a cache, the player is expected to take something out, and replace it with something of equal or greater value.
For Eaglecaching, each cache has either a QR code or a physical cache with information about each historical event. The QR codes lead to the cache’s web page with photographs, videos, or sound files. Every cache is hidden in a place of importance that relates to the cache. The caches are spread out throughout the university in order to get the public to discover and explore American University.
