Out of space, place and location, place has major significance in this project, as it focuses mainly on one area, The United States. By organizing historical recipes, it gives culture a place.
Place
This project actually originated in the 1930s, and the administrators decided to divide the country into five different regions: the Northeast, the South, the Middlewest, the Far West, and the Southwest. Therefore, instead of having one specific state, there are different areas all around the country to learn to about.

This map is provided, allowing users to click on the region that they are interested in and view cookbooks, photography, and more specific to that area. This project separates each region because each part of America ate different types of meals. For example, states closer to the shore ate a lot more seafood. Users are also able to select a specific location and transcribe their own recipes or share any knowledge they may have. By clicking on “help us make history”, user are able to submit their own information that they may have on meals during The Great Depression.

The place where this project takes place is America. Although anyone is allowed to contribute, the project only focuses on each region of the United States and the recipes that were important to them during The Great Depression. Place is very important in this project because it puts an exact place for the culture of food and eating during the Great Depression.
