Welcome to our Site! Here we will be reviewing the project What America Ate; a project about the relation of food to the 1930’s Depression Era culture. The project gives us an in depth look into America’s culture during this period of time. Although the main focus of the project is food, through the digital archive the creators have collected the project shows much more including, but nit limited to the warped views people had relating to gender and race during the Depression. The project is based off of America Eats, a Depression-Era jobs creation program where writers went to every state to record what Americans were eating during the time. Our team of West Chester University students, Team Monarchy, has chosen this project for an in- depth review. We will be dissecting this project to find out what it does correctly, and what it does poorly. After you go through our site you will help you to understand whether or not this is a solid digital humanities project and why it is deemed so.
