Openness
- Lisa Spiro quotes Diane Zorich, in Debates in the Digital Humanities, saying, “Openness operates on several levels in the digital humanities, describing a commitment to the open exchange of ideas, the development of open content and software, and transparency”. Selfie City embodies openness through all of the information they share about selfies and the data they have collected. Being open about the who, what, where, when and why. They tell you who they are, what they strive to do, where the team and the data is located from, when they formulated this webpage, and why they decided to showcase this interesting phenomenon.

Transparency
- DH values transparency of information, and sources. Selfie city is extremely transparent their webpage is public and all information is accessible the webpage does not leave you guessing. They explain under their page “Data Collection and Analysis” how they were able to get all the data and results to form their findings!
Experimentation
- Both Selfiecity and DH value experimentation Selfiexploratory allows you to experiment with all the data they have collected. The first picture shows no filters selected and the second shows many selections. The exploratory is very visual the selections work like interactive graphs.

Visualization
- DH also values visualization, visualizations come in many forms such as pictures and graphs Selfiecity uses these image plots and graphs in interesting ways creating multitudes of graphs on their webpage with all of their collected data on selfies.
