Charlotte 1911 is a mapping tool to locate or relocate small businesses and neighborhoods. It merges the old mapping records and the new mapping records to provide a more accurate and thorough visual of what the city was like 100 years ago. The project provides an in depth map analysis and several map spotlights from the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. The project successfully provides a glimpse at what life was like in 1911 Charlotte. Even from the main drawing presented on the front page, the viewer is able to consider what it was like to live there in the early 1900’s.

The map that the digital humanities of UNC created has many different categories and filters to search by and narrow one’s  potentially broad search. Some of these filters include: Church, Public Service, Retail, and Manufacturing. These help to better find what the user is looking for. The “Charlotte 1911” project serves its purpose in enabling its users to locate certain streets and historical sites that were developed back in the beginning of the 20th century. See the source image

The project even provides an built-in map that redirects you to a separate site where it can be used to do everything that is advertised.
