This project was given to us as West Chester University students within the Digital Humanities 280 course.
It is the second of two projects in which the overarching task was to review a project done online by assessing how and in what ways that project adheres to the methods and values of the digital humanities field.
These values as learned through Lisa Spiro’s include:
- Openness
- Collaboration
- Collegiality
- Diversity
- Experimentation
Throughout the process of creating this project, our work was done in four ways:
Managing and engaging in our work with each other on the platform, WordPress, working together to decide on projects we would like to analyze and then choosing one, assesing the project’s valuse in order to produce the assigned work, and writing and editing our content.
The process of accomplishing all of these tasks over the course of several weeks in November of 2020 in order to complete the assignment for a final grade looked like this:
- Creating a group and drafting a presentation explaining 3 project candidates of our choosing
- Selecting one project to review and delegating work to teammates
- Creating the site and a rough draft with some content that we were able to continue building on
- Meeting weekly with Dr. Randall Cream
- Reviewing other projects and having ours reviewed by our peers
- Solidifying our website designs and finishing content pages in a final draft
