Project Overview

The Linked Jazz Project “is a dataset and a network visualization based on 54 transcribed oral histories”. In layman’s terms, it’s a digital chart that shows which jazz musicians knew each other.

Directed by Prof. Cristina Pattuelli.

Founded in 2011 by the Semantic Lab at Pratt Institute.

This project provides a user-friendly way for people to understand the historical relationships between jazz musicians by organizing information digitally through Linked Data methods.

Users can trace social networks simply by hovering over a musician icon where it connects to other webs that lead to other musicians.

Filters can be applied to the network in order to better categorize each group of data and to help narrow down a specific musician.
