One of the goals of both the project and the publication was to discover what social media postings can say about people in the midst of political and social movements. The project took aim at finding out what daily life was like for citizens of Ukraine during Euromaidan. This is directly tied into the studying and analysis of cultural data which is a goal in the discipline of digital humanities. “The Everyday Project” represents a real time study of mass amounts of information about people and their day to day lives through social media posts. By using visualizations the team could draw conclusions about what people’s lives really look like time during a pro-longed time of protest. The project could not be done with social media’s ability to enable the communication of everyday things. This ties into the broader goal of social media as a discipline dealing with how people connect and communicate with each other which at its core is a human and cultural necessity. Digital humanities shares in this same goal of cultural analysis.
