Lisa Spiro – Collaboration
Lisa Spiro, an “Assistant University Librarian for Digital Scholarship and Organizational Development at Rice University’s Fondren Library,” declared multiple values of Digital Humanities in her essay, “This is Why We Fight”: Defining the Values of the Digital Humanities.” In Spiro’s essay, she states that collaboration is a “Free flow of information that allows people to build on ideas and think in new ways.” The DRI came together to create a storybook-style portfolio of New York’s past, painting the two-sided image of good and bad. Graphing, audio, research, and creativity from different members make up the layers of the project.

Digital Humanities analyzes the work and footprint that members of society place in all areas of study, including business. Business analytics takes efforts from companies and puts them into analytical representations like spreadsheets, graphs, and written reports in order to dictate future decisions/changes. Collaboration on the business front is essential to success with categories like accounting, sales, management, Human Resources, etc. Records of human activity show up in every part of our society, and will continue to drive and grow Digital Humanities as technology runs our globe.
