Tools:

MySQL Database:

  • Open source relational database system, that has been fully developed and thoroughly tested
  • We will have to create a database that will act as a log and store all of our information for our heat map
  • Will collect information from WCU’s firewall to find unwanted traffic into the network

Mapline Visualization:

  • A visualization tool that will allow use to display our information from our dataset
  • We want to build a heat map to show real time data of malicious attacks against West Chester
  • Will show data on when, where, and what each attack is that comes across the RamNet Network


Data:

Collection:

  • Will come from logs from West Chester’s Firewall and the installed antivirus software
  • Will track what the malicious data is, when it happened, and where it happened at

User Agreement:

  • This project will work best with user agreement and willingness to participate
  • The more knowledge we can gain the more we can learn to protect ourselves

Output:

  • Dataset will be fully shared via GitHub
  • Visualization will be available on our website
