Goals

The goal of the Atlas of Economic Complexity is to “understand economic dynamics and new growth opportunities for every country worldwide.” This goal relates to a similar goal from Digital Humanities in the way that DH aims to understand how people and societies develop historically and culturally. Both disciplines use data and digital tools to identify patterns and better understand how societies change over time. While the Atlas focuses specifically on economic development, trade, and growth opportunities, Digital Humanities can examine historical and cultural information to understand changes in human society. Therefore, both fields use information and technology to gain a deeper understanding of how countries and societies develop and change.
