About

Hi, my name is Matthew Tims and I am a senior here at West Chester University, majoring in Economics and Finance. I am currently enrolled in an Intro to Digital Humanities course that takes place on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 2:00 PM, that by the end of it will leave me with a good understanding of the discipline and allow me to find ways to incorporate the things that I’ve learned into my every day life. To get a general understanding of the Digital Humanities, my professor has assigned a project requiring me to compare the discipline, with that of another I am more familiar with, that being finance.

In this project specifically, we are going to research international trade and the financial impacts it has on many different countries around the world. In order to give you a better understanding of what this project is about, I believe it is important for you to know a little bit about me and some of the things that make me who I am.

I grew up in a small town in the Lehigh Valley with my two parents and three brothers. If there was one thing my parents drilled into my brain at a young age, it would be to save money, and only spend money on things that you know your going to use. I believe this message is what led me to develop an interest in finance, which is why I chose it to be the discipline I would like to compare to Digital Humanities. Although I already know a good bit about finance and what it is the study of, I believe it is important for me to do more research, as I would like to become a financial advisor in the future so that I can help other people manage their money in an effective way. Enough about me, let’s get into the nitty gritty of the two disciplines in an effort to see how closely related, or completely different they are.
