Ethical Awareness- The project pays close attention to who had power and who didn’t in the media during the 1800s . It also thinks about how similar patterns of exclusion can still happen today in digital spaces. Digital Humanities values fairness and justice. That means asking hard questions about which stories get told, whose voices are missing, and how technology can sometimes repeat old patterns of inequality. Viral Texts helps us understand how ideas spread—and who was (and wasn’t) included in that process.

Critical Use of Digital Methods– The project uses digital tools to help explore texts in new ways—but not to replace thoughtful reading. Instead, these tools help researchers find patterns and ask deeper questions about the meaning and context of what they’re reading. In Digital Humanities, technology isn’t the answer to everything. What matters most is using digital tools to support careful thinking, not just to create impressive graphs or results. Viral Texts uses technology to help make discoveries—not to take the place of human insight
