What America Ate

In the 1930’s American experience a great depression due to a lack of economic resources. Many wondered if America was the melting pot for cuisine or did America have a cuisine of its own.  Monetary change and innovation were all changing Americans’ eating methods.  To evaluate the solution the government created the AEP better known as the America Eats Project. This sent various people around the globe to study various foods and document what America is eating. With this and the internet, anyone has access to an abundance of insight on what America ate in the 1930’s and what America eats today.

Course Information

The What America Ate Project Review (WAAPR) was created by 6 individuals at West Chester University. As an assignment for the Into to Digital Humanities class, the class split up into groups containing between 3-6 people (team members are listed below). Each group chose a Digital Humanities project that we found interesting and wanted to analyze to learn and understand more about. For this, we chose What America Ate, to review.

WordPress

WAAPR was created using WordPress. This tool allowed us to effectively work on separate pieces of the project at once. When we first began the project, WordPress was very new to some of us. We weren’t sure how to work it properly, but with the help of practice and research… we were able to learn skills to make it successful.
