Queer Studies & DH: Goals

The goal of the Digital Transgender Archive is to “increase the accessibility of transgender history by providing an online hub for digitized historical materials, born-digital materials, and information on archival holdings throughout the world.” Basically, the point of it is to collect the experiences of transgender people and compile them into their digital archive. This archival of transgender experiences is a good example of how two of the goals of the Digital Humanities – preservation and accessibility – is making it easier to share different human experiences digitally.
Thus, it is clear that the discipline of Queer Studies is well-suited to adaptability within DH, and vice-versa. Both disciplines’ goals to provide accessibility to (often overlooked) cultural data and preservation of said data are harmonious and should therefore work together whenever possible.
