Overview Of Project

The Münzkabinett Berlin project won best visualization digital humanties awards and it is clear the choice was right. This project comes from Berlin, Germany from researchers: Flavio Gortana, Franziska von Tenspolde, Daniela Guhlmann and Marian Dörk. Without them this site would have been made impossible.

This project was started in the early 2010s. The project has over 26,000 coins that can be clicked on and read about in a matter of seconds. Each coin has a different story than the other. Rather that includes a different era, region, background, hertiage or history.

You can arrange the coins in a myriad of ways, from scatter lines, to clustersm scatter plot, cluster grid, split scatter lines, plaint grid, cluster list and lastly grid list.

To show the extra mile this group took actual coin is not on the site, but it is an imitation of what the coin would’ve looked like if it was. All the coins are housed in the Münzkabinett Museum and this is only the beginning of what the muesum has to offer.
