The main goal of this project was to understand how newspapers shaped public opinion during the 1918 influenza pandemic, by combining traditional humanities methods with computational data‑mining techniques.

Goal : Preserve & Digitize Historical Materials
The project collects, digitizes, and preserves primary sources related to the 1918 influenza pandemic – such as newspapers, photographs, letters, and public health reports. Therefore, ensuring long-term access to historical materials while also supporting future research. Designed for the audience of scholars, students, and historians.
This aligns with Digital Humanities goals of preservation, open access, and data sustainability, ensuring historical data remains available to a broad audience through digital platforms.
Documentation
The project’s documentation is strong, and the website clearly outlines the team’s goals, methods, and datasets, providing transparency and academic credibility.
