Introduction/Overview

What is the Greene Street Project ?

This project was a team effort between three economists from the NYU Development Research Institute and a web developer. The goal was to find ways to make living conditions better for all of New York City by studying just one block. The block chosen for the study is in lower Manhattan, and the study covers a 400-year period. The project shows what jobs people had each year, what industries were popular at the time, and what the future might bring.

Madeline Blount (Web Developer)

Short Overview of Madeline Blount’s contribution:

Within the Greene Street Website, Madeline has been the back bone behind it all with her contribution in Web content, Web design, sound/video, and the production of the website. She is responsible for collecting a video and multiple pictures from the prospect park area which helped create a portion of “The Land” section within the Greene Street website. She is also responsible for a multitude of other pictures where she had personally gone out and taken that picture, while the other Authors have just used previously acquired data from other sources. On top of that she has designed/created the webpage on her own only being helped by the data that was presented by the other authors.
