:Context and Goal of this Project:

The Greene Street Project was a study undertaken by four people: William Easterly, Laura Freschi, Steven Pennings, and Madeline Blount. The goal of the project was to create a better environment for the entire city of New York by studying one block in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. The study focused on how the built environment affects the quality of life for residents and visitors. The researchers examined the physical characteristics of the block, including the buildings, streets, and sidewalks, as well as the social and economic characteristics of the neighborhood. The study found that the physical characteristics of the block had a significant impact on the quality of life for residents and visitors. The study also found that the social and economic characteristics of the neighborhood had a significant impact on the quality of life for residents and visitors. The results of the study were used to develop recommendations for improving the quality of life for residents and visitors.
