Context + Goal of Project 2

Intro

I’m a sophomore finance major at West Chester University with an interest in using data and analytics to understand real-world behavior. I chose the Phototrails project because it shows how large amounts of social media data can reveal patterns in culture, similar to how financial data is used in business. My goal is to understand how digital humanities combines data analysis with storytelling and to explain it in a clear, simple way.

Scope / Scale of the Project

  • The Phototrails project analyzes millions of Instagram photos
  • Data includes metadata like time, location, and visual features
  • This large-scale dataset allows researchers to identify broad cultural and behavioral patterns

Assessment

  • This page clearly explains the purpose and direction of the project
  • It successfully connects data analysis with digital humanities goals
  • Overall, it provides a strong foundation for understanding the project
