Basic Tools Used:
- Name Mapping & Curator Tool – Used to create a visualization of connections between each Jazz artist
- LodLive – Linked Data Standards, useful for creating the connections needed for Name Mapping & Curator Tools
- Ecco! – Linked Open Data interface for collaborative named entity resolution
- Transcript Analyzer – identifies names in transcripts and creates a double

Gephi:
- Open-source software
- This means that it is open to the public to use and change to create other software, or to use it in other projects
- Network analysis and visualization package made in Java on the NetBeans platform
- Entire backbone of network visualization tools
- Allows for the creation of a connection between nodes based of a triple connection created by user input
- Nodes change in size to represent how many times a specific artist has been mentioned
Assessment of Best Practices:
The tools of the Linked Jazz project are also in line with the best practices of Digital Humanities. Their main tool, Gephi, is an open-source software, meaning that it is open for anyone to use and manipulate. Also all of the Linked Data created from these tools is publicly available to view and use.
