An important tool within Game Studies is Unity, a Game Engine many games are developed in.
In the case of Papers, Please the engine modern releases were built on is Unity.
Unity is a widely popular game engine seen throughout the current games industry thanks to its accessibility and versatility. The engine can be used to create a variety of three-dimensional or two-dimensional games even being repurposed by some to make interactive simulations. This has led to Unity being used as a digital tool outside of the games industry by numerous other industries for creating interactive simulations relevant to that field.
Though I was unable to find a Digital Humanities projects citing the use of Unity, there are several Digital Humanities projects interested in the 3D Visualization of people, places, and objects, something Unity is more then capable on top of being able to use such things within a game or other interactive medium.
