The process:
1.Record the sound
Start by making a field recording of a location. The sound can be of anything that represents that location such as cars, honking to cows mooing. The sound recording to be authentic to that region or location, not something staged or acted.
2. Prep your file
When preparing your file, make sure it’s a WAV or a high-quality MP3 file.
3. Fill out submission form
Log onto the Cities and Memory website and fill out the submission form on the website with all the appropriate information.
4. Upload your file
You have the ability to submit your file through a file sharing service such as WeTransfer, Dropbox and Google Drive.
5. Submission is reviewed
The Cities and Memory team reviews your submission. The team checks for audio quality, relevance to the project and originality.
6. Publication
Once your submission has been approved your recording will appear on the interactive Google map and Bandcamp.

Out of the six different steps the most meaningful and most impactful step is definitely making your field recording, it’s what the entire project is built around. A clear, high-quality field recording captures the atmosphere and uniqueness of a specific location.
