Cities and Memory encompasses many goals and targets with the most important goal sharing unique sounds from vast locations to sound designers who want to experience that sound who haven’t done so yet. The project aims to provide both the original sounds as well as the reimagined version. According to the project’s website, “The listener can explore places through their actual sounds, to explore reimaged versions of what those places could be – or to flip between the two different sound worlds at leisure”. What makes this project so remarkable, is the direct access sound designers living in one part of the world can directly listen to raw and filtered sounds of places on the other side of the globe.
