Cultural & Social Justice Impact

Cultural Impact: Cities and Memory shapes culture by restoring and reimagining soundscapes, offering creative new ways to encounter and patriciate in sound around the world. The project highlights the cultural and historical significance of common sound from each native region, from political riots to busy food stores. By inspiring musical reinterpretation, it also promotes cross-cultural communication and creativity, lessening the gap between traditional field recording, music, and digital storytelling.

Social Justice Impact: Cities and Memory has a significant social justice impact by magnifying underrepresented voices and preserving the identify of places that are repeatably overlooked.

Regarding the project’s connection to social justice by amplifying underrepresented communities, It’s very intriguing how little sounds there’re from the northern part of Africa. Considering how there’re multiple sounds coming from places that are much harder to get to like Greenland.
