Data

Detroitography uses a variety of publicly available datasets to create its maps and visualizations. These sources include the City of Detroit Open Data Portal, Census demographics, property and land‑use records, and other GIS (geospatial) data layers. (detroitography.com)

The project starts with raw numerical, tabular, and geospatial data. This data is processed and transformed into clear, visual maps and infographics that make patterns in neighborhoods easy to see. All datasets are documented and linked on the site, allowing residents, researchers, and community organizations to explore and reuse the information. This process aligns with Digital Humanities best practices by making data transparent, accessible, and meaningful to the public.
