The primary DH research value supported by Photogrammar is accessibility/openness.
The value of accessibility and openness refers to the inclusivity of data and projects relating to Lisa Spiro’s “Defining the Values of the Digital Humanities.” This allows for anyone and everyone with internet to access sources and share work.
- Photogrammar’s digitization of digital collections provides free access to historical photographs, and the platform’s interactivity aligns with making it publicly available for education, research, and creative use.
Photogrammar’s “About” section also notes the updates put in place to further accessibility for users, “Through a collaboration between the Photogrammar team and the Smithsonian Archives of American Art (AAA), the result is unprecedented access to the full audio and searchable text to interviews with Historic Section staff and photographers, offering a new lens into the sections’s inner workings including from lesser heard voices.”
