Values

Personality Psychology

One important value of Personality Psychology is its use of evidence and systematic research methods to understand human thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In the Schleider and Weisz study, the researchers used a randomized-controlled design and measurable outcomes to examine whether the intervention produced changes in adolescents.

Digital Humanities

One important value of Digital Humanities is the use of digital tools to create new ways of researching and understanding human experiences. Rather than replacing traditional research methods, digital tools can make it easier to collect, organize, process, and analyze information.

How the Values Align

Personality Psychology and Digital Humanities share a commitment to using research and evidence to better understand people. Personality Psychology provides theories and research methods for studying personality, while Digital Humanities provides digital tools to support those methods. In the Project Personality study, researchers used Qualtrics to present questionnaires and the computer-based intervention and to randomly assign participants to the intervention or control group. This shows how a digital tool can help researchers collect and organize information about human experiences for analysis.

Therefore, the two fields work together because Personality Psychology provides the research questions and methods, while Digital Humanities can provide digital tools that help researchers carry out and analyze that research.
