Linguistics
Linguistics is the study of language. It studies the structure, how we use it, and understanding all the forms such as verbal and nonverbal. Linguistics studies American Sign Language by using linguistic features such as syntax to understand the sentence structure in ASL and how it’s different compared to English. Because ASL is its own language, linguistics helps us to understand language can be more than auditory while also understanding the structure of ASL.
Digital Humanities
Digital humanities are the crossover between digital technology and the humanities; it is a new way of doing research. Digital humanities explore how technology affects the humanities and the different ways technology can be used to study them. Researchers may use software and databases to understand information. These digital tools allow researchers to work with larger amounts of data compared to using traditional research methods. I also believe using digital tools gives a different perspective and interpretation of the results.
