About

The Real Insta: West Chester website was created as an assignment during the 2018 fall semester at West Chester University. As part of the class DHM 280 (Intro to Digital Humanities), we formed groups and worked on a project proposal, write we wrote a proposal that outlines a project to be done. The proposal created by our group was to take the pictures taken on Instagram with the highest impressions in the West Chester area and use them to create a website for tourists.

During the creation of this project our group was formed very early, and the roles we were given were assigned at a later date. With only having three members out of a possible six for our group, two members had to take two sections of the six required elements and balance the workload given to them. Below you can see our team members and which required element(s) each team member accomplished:

  • Kayla Lubach: Overview & Context
  • Jake Marcozzi:  Audience & Discipline(s) / Expected Results
  • Frankie Mendicino: Tools and Methodologies / Peer Projects

Real Insta: West Chester was created using WordPress, as it allowed us to be able to easily work on separate pages at once. As this is our second project using WordPress, there was less confusion and allowed our group to have a much better experience creating our website.

Our group communicated via a group chat during the development of the project, allowing all of us to have conversations without needing to worry about a email or phone call not being seen. The decision to have a group chat helped expand our communication process, and keep decisions quick and easy.

As a group our shared documents were kept on Google Drive, this gave the group the easiest option to see who was doing what and when it was due, all while keeping our work available to our group anytime anywhere. This decision helped us so that we could always have a reference for our responsibilities and what had to be accomplished.

Thank you for visiting our website Real Insta: West Chester. We hope the project stood out to you, and that the website can be successful enough to leave a impact on classes after ours.
