There are several digital tools used in communication studies. One of the most commonly used tools is video chatting. It allows people to talk to each other face-to-face over long distances, enabling people to connect and collaborate with each other virtually anywhere. During the height of the pandemic, video chatting became an essential part of everyday life. When everything was locked down due to the pandemic, video chatting made it possible to get work done without risking people getting infected. There are many other uses for video chatting besides collaboration. For example, online dating. With dating apps, it’s always possible to talk to people via text, but with video chatting, you’d be able to make a deeper connection with the person you’re trying to talk to. Not only that, you wouldn’t necessarily need to meet up with them in person in order to see them. Video chatting is rarely used in Digital Humanities.

A tool used for creating Pair was Figma. Figma is a website design tool that allows people to work in real-time. Unlike other various design tools, Figma is unique in that it includes prototyping. Prototyping allows users to test out their designs to see where they can improve. Other features of Figma include developer mode and design systems, allowing for nearly endless design possibilities. While not specifically mentioned, tools similar to Figma are often used in Digital Humanities, such as WordPress and Drupal.
