BOTY is an app that provides users with many similarities to WCU Drinks. BOTY lets users check in and connect to other customers at the same bar to see which bar is the most popular that night. Users can view other’s profiles to read their opinions on certain bars, bartenders, and what rating they have received.
If you are a lover of cocktails you can use this app to learn recipes, discover which bars serve those specific cocktails, and even which bartenders excel at making those cocktails. The app offers trivia and drinking games that provide rewards, such as free drinks to winners. This app can also be used by bartenders to create a public profile and gain a following. Users can display their favorite recipes, work schedule, and request customers to establish relationships and gain reward points.
Although BOTY has many comparisons to WCU Drinks, there are several difference that make WCU Drinks unique. Although BOTY tells users which bars have which type of cocktails, it does not tell you the drink specials at each location which is a huge selling point for a lot of customers. BOTY offers free drinks as rewards to loyal users of the app but WCU Drinks has partnered with Uber to give you even bigger prizes like free rides or discounts.
Yelp
Yelp is one of the most famous business review apps to ever be created. Users are able to find the best restaurants and services near their location with a quick and easy search. Yelp can also be used to make reservations, order takeout, and write your own reviews and ratings all over the phone. Users to make their searches much more specific by providing their location, how far they are willingly to travel, ratings, prices, and hours.
Yelp is quite similar to our app due to the same concept of rating the user’s experience at businesses and posting about it on the platform. WCU Drinks is however used solely for bars. WCU drinks provides a very in-depth rating for a user’s bar experience at that current time. People use our app to make last minute decisions quickly because WCU Drinks refreshes its feed constantly in order to show how long lines are to get into bars, how long it took to get in, is there a cover, length it took to get a drink, and if there are any drink specials unique to that night. Although Yelp is a traditionally used app that appeases to the broader spectrum, WCU Drinks’ main focus is to give users more specific and direct live information to make their bar experience that much better.
