Projected Audience
WCU Drinks is a project that will narrow in only on those who attend the various bars in downtown West Chester. Ultimately, this project will be most useful to those who take part in the drinking culture at West Chester and those who also often use Uber as their main form of transportation to the bars.
The ideal audience is someone who partakes in both being an avid bar goer and an avid Uber user. However, it is not a requirement to use Uber in order to use WCU Drinks.
The intended audience is mainly for those who wish to benefit from the knowledge that WCU Drinks can provide regarding the bars of West Chester. Any West Chester University student over the age of 21 that has adopted going out to bars at night as part of their social life would consider WCU Drinks a valuable asset.
In the long run, the information that will be stored in the WCU Drinks database will be useful to the business owners. The bars will benefit from the data as it is collected and interpreted down the road. WCU Drinks will be able to target these business owners and even partner with them to create more incentives for users which will also create better business.
Disciplines
Although WCU Drinks is a small DH project, there were two main disciplines fundamental to the creation and success of the project. To create the app, WCU Drinks needed an expert in the Digital Humanities and an expert in Business Marketing.
An expert in the Digital Humanities serves to assist with all the digital and technical aspects of WCU Drinks!. This project was built as an app to be easily accessible for users at the bar. Therefore, it was necessary to collaborate within the discipline of the Digital Humanities to assist in the creation of the app and to determine which DH tools would be the best fit for WCU Drinks.
In addition to working with the Digital Humanities, WCU Drinks would not be successful without the addition of marketing tactics. Both the creators of this project belong to the College of Business and Public Management at West Chester University as Marketing majors. WCU Drinks was pitched to both Uber and the various bar owners before it was published in app stores.
WCU Drinks had to be properly presented and marketed to both Uber and the bars to get them on board with the project. After being published in app stores, it was our responsibility as the creators and marketing majors to spread the word and advertise WCU Drinks to grow our following.
